I’ve been so keen and curious with food recently. Not craving delicious foods, more like hunting for new foods to experiment with my nutrition. I love snacking, and I love making new kinds of meals, so I recently have been trying out new food combinations.

I make my own yoghurt, and use that yoghurt to make strained yoghurt. It tastes delicious! The best part is it isn’t overly sweetened, so I can simply add whatever I like to control the sweetness and flavour. My go to bedtime snack is 0 fat plain yoghurt + strained greek yoghurt with all bran, roasted soy beans, blueberry jam(no added sugar jam), and honey mixed together. It’s filling, low in fat, and high in protein! Love it 🙂

Today I went shopping initially with the idea to just buy milk, tomatoes, and some canned beans. Well… I made the mistake of visiting the supermarket hungry and ended up browsing a lot of foods. I spent a lot but I was excited! I found some foods to experiment with!

  • Frozen blueberries – to give my yoghurt snacks more texture
  • Frozen beans – they have very high protein, carbs, and moderate fats. I’m keen to try them in a soup
  • Frozen chicken breast – this made me so excited! I want to see how they taste tomorrow!
  • Smoked cheese – the aroma from them is just intoxicating… The taste isn’t that special, but nonetheless it was worth buying
  • Okara – because this is just magic food honestly. Sprinkle it on anything you’re eating. It doesn’t modify the taste, gives your food more texture, and adds so much fibre and protein to your food.

There’s more, but they’re the highlights for now. This is the 2nd shopping trip though within the past 3 days… I’m not happy about that, since I’ve spent a lot of money on food. The 2 shopping trips total to around 20,000 yen($200 roughly). So, I need to cut back on expenditure and use up all the foods I have stocked now for the next 2 weeks. Eventually I need to write down my shopping lists and determine where I’m bleeding money.
